In My Heart of Hearts

“In My Heart of Hearts”

How can you chase through your mind what doesn’t wanna be caught,

eluding the capture with every thought,

Attempting to find the right thing to say, that hasn’t already been said,

by the time the message gets from the right side of your brain,

to the tip of your tongue, it was just a mere figment in your head,

 In my mind, as the vivid images replay from throughout the day,

of what I would say, if I could get those precious moments back my way,

So many scenarios of how it could’ve played out,

Like this or that, or like that or this,

no matter which way, just know its another opportunity missed,

Once again, I’m left to follow your lead, down the road of the mislead,

getting ever so close, within your reach, before your actions expressed protest,

only to succumb to your playful heart of emotions that impede potential progress,

is it the thrill of the chase, or the agony you cause from the challenge...

is a question asked numerous times to me, myself and I,

but I guess the more appropriate question is why…

must you string me along this road that is ever so long,

with what seems like endless turns, avoiding the main streets,

settling for the back roads of valley’s & peaks,

and if its a mind boggling roller coaster ride that you seek…

I think I’ll sit this one out and be more discreet…but in closing,

Message to the chaser; sooner or later you’ll sit back and evaluate your doing,

asking yourself is it really worth pursuing,

And to the chasee; one day your gonna realize you’re just running to be running,

you’ll stop and look back to see nobody’s coming.
